Census Forms Arriving Mid-March – Be Counted!
The U.S. Census Bureau is mailing census forms to all residents in mid-March. Residents will have until Mid-April to complete and return the form. Completing the form is easy, safe and important!
Easy - The 2010 Census has only 10 Questions.  Information about everyone who lives at a residence should be included on the completed Census form.
Safe - Per Title 13 of the United States Code, the U.S. Census Bureau is not allowed to share an individual's response with anyone, including other federal agencies or law enforcement entities.
Important - Census data determines boundaries for state and local legislative and congressional districts.  Also, Census data determines how $400 billion in federal funding (for schools, roads, senior centers and libraries - to name a few examples) is allocated to communities.  Every person is worth an average of $1000 to their community in federal funding if they are counted in the Census.

Our Own Scottsdale Senstations
Scottsdale Sensation ~ Millie Spilman and Bernice Cyr

I would love to nominate Millie Spilman and Bernice Cyr as Scottsdale Sensations. They work very hard in Sequoya Elementary School's front office on a daily basis. They enjoy dressing up for every occasion in order to make students and staff smile and have a better day. If teachers ever need a helping hand, they are willing to pitch in and make our lives a little easier.

They have worked so hard in helping make our fundraiser a huge success. Sequoya Student Council hosted a T-shirt sale in order to Walk on Nitalia's Team. Our entire school donated through the PE Department. This was all to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Mrs. Spilman and Mrs. Cyr sorted, copied, arranged and helped with the orchestration of this huge project. Mrs. Cyr made a colorful pillar poster, and Mrs. Spilman delivered daily announcements that were very so uplifting and motivating.

It is such a pleasure to have two caring people running our front office. It is comforting to know that Sequoya is in great hands! Millie and Bernice are a wonderful team and help make this a fun, caring, dedicated to doing great things, A+++ school.

SEQUOYA AWARDED "EXCELLING" LABEL AGAIN FROM AZ DEPT OF ED!

Help Us, Help Others
Dear Sequoya Families,

Student Council needs your help. We are collecting pop tabs to benefit the families that use Ronald McDonald House. Please, help us by collecting pop tops and then bring them into school.

Thank you,
Sequoya Student Council
Reduce Air Pollution
There are many ways to decrease the amount of vehicle emissions that you produce. For instance, consider riding the bus, carpooling, walking, bicycling or motorcycling. Here at Sequoya we are trying to reduce that amount of pollution that we add to the environment and are implementing a TRP (Trip Reduction Plan) in compliance with the State mandate.
